MARC Celebrates 9 Year Anniversary

9 Year Anniversary

This past Friday, January 6th, Maryland Addiction Recovery Center celebrated our 9th anniversary! While MARC began operations at the very end of December 2023, the first MARC patient walked through our doors on Monday, January 6th, 2014, and that is the date now considered the opening of Maryland Addiction Recovery Center and when our journey of offering live-saving, high quality, comprehensive treatment services to patients and families began.

In January 2014 we began as a small daytime intensive outpatient (IOP) treatment program. We had six employees. Overtime, we expanded to multiple IOP programs, added an adolescent treatment IOP program, and brought on staff. We then developed our long-term extended care Community Living Treatment program in addition to IOP programming for local residents. Over the last nine years we have added treatment programs, created and enhanced specialty treatment programs, added robust services and support, created strategic partnerships with other facilities and organizations, and continue to try to perfect our delivery of services to better treat those suffering from addiction, mental health, and co-occurring disorders. We now offer over 50 extended care bed in our long-term Community Living Treatment Program, close to 20 new sober living beds for patients in our intensive outpatient (IOP) treatment program, as well as our outpatient partial hospitalization (PHP) day program and daytime and evening intensive outpatient (IOP) treatment programs.

There are too many friends, family, staff members, professional colleagues, treatment and community organizations, and industry partners to thank for their ongoing support over the last nine years, but we are eternally grateful for those that have walked this journey with us. Not one treatment center, rehab, or professional can treat addiction or mental health alone. It takes a village. And we are thankful for that village of professional and community partners that have helped us offer vital care to those in need.

We look forward to many more years of offering long-term, high quality comprehensive care to individuals and families suffering from substance use and co-occurring disorders. The COVID-19 pandemic and the continued addiction and mental health fallout being felt by so many over the last few years only solidifies our need to be helpful. It continues to be an honor and a privilege to serve patients and families in need, and be a small part in their story of hope, healing, and recovery.

For those that have walked with us, we thank you. For those that may not know us well, we encourage you to reach out to learn more. Our leadership, clinical, medical, business development, and admissions teams are always open to finding time and learning how we can support others within the behavioral healthcare and addiction treatment field. Most importantly, we are always looking to find ways to work together to better serve those in need find sustained recovery from addiction and a high quality of life.

Nine years is a long time, but just a blink of an eye in a lifetime. And the time we have with patients and families, although longer than most treatment centers and rehabs, is very small compared to what hopefully will be a lifetime of healing and recovery. Over the last 9 years, we are most grateful for the patients and families we have served, for trusting us with their care, for allowing us to be helpful, and for showing us that our greatest triumphs come from the darkest days and that, above all, recovery is possible and everyone of them are deserving of a life in recovery beyond their wildest dreams.
