Recently, Maryland Addiction Recovery Center received the honor for the second year in a row as one of the Baltimore Business Journal’s Best Places to Work. We were honored in both 2019 and 2020 in the “small business category” as one of the ten best places to work in Baltimore and the surrounding areas throughout Maryland. Although MARC did not win, we were honored to be nominated for two straight years, as the award is based on the input of employees.
Therefore, we thought it was important to take a look at some of the information that our employees submitted to the Baltimore Business Journal during the selection process through anonymous surveys and questions and answers. We are proud that our staff so enjoys working at MARC, as well as the enthusiasm with which they responded and demonstrated through their answers. The information received through the survey measures a wide range of research-validated workplace factors that impact employee engagement and satisfaction. According to the Baltimore Business Journal, companies that are the “Best Places to Work” foster a workplace where employees willingly go above and beyond in their work, advocate for the organization and intend to stay into the future. Due to these reasons, it makes us extremely proud to receive this recognition.
- Overall, in the awards selection, the score that Maryland Addiction Recovery Center received was a 92.77%.
- In terms of employee engagement, MARC received a score that 84.85% of all employees are “highly engaged.”
- 90% of male employees and 95% of female employees agreed with the statement “I see professional growth and career development opportunities for myself in this organization.”
- When asked what word describes their work environment at Maryland Addiction Recovery Center, the top word used by employees was “collaborative”
- 88% of employees at MARC believe that the senior leadership in the organization value people as their most important resource
Throughout the survey for Best Places to Work, employees were also given the opportunity to anonymously submit comments regarding Maryland Addiction Recovery Center and the company culture. Overall, 72 comments were shared with the team at the Baltimore Business Journal. Here are some of those MARC employee comments:
“I have worked in this field for a long time and over that time, my passion, drive and commitment have never changed. But what has changed is that in the past I was often unsettled, felt unappreciated or even undermined, question the integrity of leaders I work with and for, and basically carried anxiety around 24/7 about knowing that things weren’t okay- and this was through several other organizations. The work at MARC is as challenging as ever, but the constant anxiety is gone. I feel calm, valued, trusted to do my job, and I wholeheartedly believe that the senior leadership team here operates at the highest level of integrity. Because I never felt completely safe and settled in a professional environment before, I was always keeping one ear open to the next opportunity and entertaining conversations with recruiters and colleagues trying to convince me to do something new. But that all ended when I joined the MARC team. The thought of something else hasn’t crossed my mind once since I’ve been here and all I look forward to now is my future at MARC and contributing to its continued growth and success.”
“Over the last 5 years I have seen huge growth within the leadership, organization and staff at this company. The entire staff go out of their way to ensure we are providing the best care to our clients and to their families. “I believe MARC is a fantastic organization that stands out from other rehabs due to their commitment to healing individuals suffering from substance abuse. I am honored to be a part of their team. I rated them as an 8 because oftentimes the job can be VERY stressful, especially working as a therapist assistant where the patients live. Also, long hours and overtime shifts are an expected part of being on the TA team, which can negatively affect your personal life. But all in all, I am paid well and feel appreciated on the MARC team.”
