MARC Welcomes New Primary Therapist Lindsay Longo

lindsay longo primary therapist

Maryland Addiction Recovery Center is pleased to welcome therapy Lindsay Longo, LMSW, to the MARC family as a Primary Therapist. With experience working with patients dealing with substance use disorder and co-occurring disorders, Lindsay will be a valuable addition to MARC’s clinical team.

Lindsay’s journey to becoming a clinician, like her personal therapeutic approach, is unique. Before seeking out a career as a social worker, Lindsay worked as a career firefighter and fire specialist in Baltimore County for eleven years. This experience in emergency services created for her a strong skill set in crisis management that has translated in her career as a clinician. Having been an emergency medical technician since the age of seventeen, Lindsay Longo has a unique understanding of medical knowledge, which holistically informs her therapeutic practice.

“We are excited to have Lindsay join the clinical team at Maryland Addiction Recovery Center,” said Dr. Jennifer Richards, MARC Clinical Director. “Her previous experience working in addiction treatment combined with her understanding of the value of long-term treatment and clinical support make her a perfect fit as a clinician in our community-reintegration model of care.”

Lindsay Longo completed her bachelor’s degree at Towson University in Towson, Maryland, majoring in Allied Health with a concentration in health promotion, prevention, wellness, and community health. She next went on to achieve a Master of Social Work from Salisbury University in Maryland. While in school, Lindsay completed her graduate internship at Ashley Addiction Treatment in Havre de Grace, Maryland, and after her internship and graduation, she accepted a full-time position at Ashley as an Emerging Adult Counselor in working with patients between the ages of 18 and 30 in Ashley’s Emerging Adult addiction treatment program. In her three years at Ashley Addiction Treatment, Lindsay gained much knowledge and experience, which fueled her passion for working with patients suffering from addiction. She also found a niche in offering clinical help and support for patients suffering from both addiction and a co-occurring issue of disordered eating. During her time at Ashley, she ran a body positivity specialty group with this focus.

“Through the professional relationship Ashley and MARC maintain, I was able to see the success of my patients that I referred to MARC,” Lindsay said about her experience with MARC prior to employment. “The clinicians at Maryland Addiction Recovery Center always clearly communicated progress and were interested in my feedback on my own work with the patients. The leadership and clinical staff have built a truly comprehensive program; the patients’ successes speak to that. When I desired to grow my clinical practice beyond a residential model and help clients enact long-term, sustainable change, I know MARC was where I wanted to be.”
