Frederick County is located in northern Maryland with an approximate population of 250,000 inhabitants. In recent years, Frederick County has experienced an explosive population increase because of its proximity to the Washington metropolitan area. The county has quite a number of historic places and was also home to some important historical figures such as Francis Scott Key, Chris Rose, Matt Bennett, and Thomas Johnson. A lot of Frederick County’s revenue comes from its milk production, however, due to the instability of the dairy market, Frederick County has lost a number of its dairy farms. Fort Detrick, a U.S. Army Medical Command located in Frederick, Maryland is the county’s biggest employer, employing over 4,000 people.
Frederick County is a nice peaceful place to live, but unfortunately, like much of the nation, Frederick County has been affected hard by the drug epidemic.
