Maryland Addiction Recovery Center is happy to announce the hiring of Doug Bopst who will serve as MARC’s exercise and fitness ambassador and aid in offering patients an important physical wellness component to our treatment services.
Here at MARC, we believe that in order for patients to recover from addiction, substance abuse and co-occurring disorders it is vitally important to use a holistic mind/body/spirit approach to treatment. Creating and maintain a healthy body is just as important to a person entering into recovery from addiction as a healthy mind and both go hand-in-hand to support and grow a healthy spirit. To that end, we have partnered with Doug to offer these important services that will work alongside the yoga we already have to offer a more robust holistic offering to our patients as they transition through treatment.
Here is a little bit about Doug and his background and experience
Doug Bopst is a Certified Personal Trainer and Nutrition Coach for the Maryland Athletic Club and Wellness Center. He was a former felon and drug addict and has used fitness to exponentially propel his career, life and most of all his relationship with HIMSELF. He has helped dozens of people improve their health and wellness over the past four + years. He is a published writer and speaker and passionate about helping others use fitness to improve their lives. He has appeared on WBAL, WJZ, ABC, FOX 45 and has been featured in many publications including the Baltimore Sun and the Towson Times. He is the author of the book From Felony to Fitness to Free, which shows the power of a second chance and reminds people to remember how far they have come and not how far they have to go. His book is a life changing story about how a young man made the most out of his second chance. Once a full blown drug addict and felon, Doug is now passionate about helping others get healthy every day.
Doug says, “I like to think about myself as a Transformation Coach, because my goal is to help you transform into the best version of yourself. I am more than your average trainer. I have been there and I understand the struggle. The journey was hard and insidious but I’ve learned a lot from it and this journey has changed my life and transformed me into a fit, successful, happy person. I want to be able to help others achieve that for themselves!” MARC is extremely happy to be able to have Doug help our patients achieve those goals as well.
