Bergen County is the most populated in New Jersey with just under 950,000 inhabitants. Located in the northeastern corner of New Jersey, Bergen County overlooks Manhattan across the Hudson River. Hackensack, the county seat, has the biggest population with a resident count of 43,010. Home to New York Giants and the Jets, the MetLife stadium located in East Rutherford is the most expensive stadium ever built with a construction cost of approximately 1.6 billion. Other popular locations include Paramus Park as well as the Westfield Garden State Plaza which is one of the biggest shopping malls in the United States.

Overdose rates in Bergen County, New Jersey

In 2017, Bergen County had 308 reported overdoses. Of those, 131 were fatal, and 111 of them were heroin/opiod related. Drug related deaths were 85 in 2015, and 99 in 2016, a continual increase in deaths in the community. The drug related death increases are consistent with the national trend, and point to how serious this epidemic has become. In New Jersey, fentanyl fueled a 40 percent increase in drug related deaths in 2016.
